I am a book and paper conservator based in Brighton, UK.
In 2018 I set up Holly Smith Conservation and in that time have carried out conservation on a variety of items from bound volumes to maps and artworks. I have worked for private owners and institutions like The Rambert Ballet Archive and Brighton Design Archive.
I have been working as a conservator since 2011 when I graduated from West Dean College with an MA in Conservation Studies. for 10 years I worked as a conservator at The National Archives where I worked on a variety of documents from within the collection. I also helped prepare documents for external loans and exhibitions and in 2017 I oversaw the loan of the Great Domesday Book to Lincoln Castle. I regularly do freelance conservation work for the Tate Galleries and the Sussex Conservation Consortium.
I have been an accredited member of the Institute of Conservation since 2017.
I am passionate about my work and really love the satisfaction in returning form and function to damaged books and paper objects.
